Despina Plousiou is a psychotherapist specializing in the treatment of Psychological Trauma (PTSD, C-PTSD). She is the co-founder of Trauma2Therapy, an institute dedicated to providing internationally informed and validated training for mental health professionals, as well as raising public awareness about the devastating effects, understanding, and treatment of complex psychological trauma (C-PTSD) on both individual and collective levels. She studied Psychology and Sociology at the American University of La Verne and completed her Master’s degree in Family and Couples Therapy at Hofstra University in New York, USA. She holds Level-3 certification in the pioneering IFS Therapy (Internal Family Systems) and integrates several trauma-focused therapeutic approaches into her practice, including Jungian Sandplay Therapy (Dora Kalff method) for adults, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Milton Erickson's Clinical Hypnosis, Polyvagal Theory (a neuroscience-based method for trauma healing), EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and Systemic Constellations (Bert Hellinger Institute - five-year theoretical and clinical training). She has worked as a psychologist and psychotherapist in psychiatric clinics, public and private schools in New York and Athens, as well as a mental health supervisor at the New York Archdiocese's Center for Abused Women and the HANAC Child and Family Support Program, in partnership with New York City’s Child Protective Services (ACS). Despina Plousiou is responsible for the official Greek translation of the Internal Family Systems (IFS) Theory. She also translated the book "Transcending Trauma – Healing Complex PTSD with Internal Family Systems Therapy" by neuroscientist Frank G. Anderson, MD (published by 24 Grammata).
